Training sessions with heart and mind

We all know that half of all training budgets go down the drain. That’s because conventional training is for transmitting knowledge. And this is absolutely necessary, it’s useful and it’s good. But, unfortunately, it’s not enough. Knowledge without heart and mind doesn’t do it for us in practice.

For example, a trainer in a seminar room can give a salesperson a five-hour, non-stop talk on the 354 criteria for a successful sale - but afterwards the salesperson doesn’t make any more sales than before. So don’t maltreat the poor salesperson in a seminar room. Commonsense dictates that we train the salesperson (first of all) in his/her own environment! When they’re with the customer. On the phone. At the cold acquisition. At the follow-up. While dealing with a complaint. We’ll be everywhere, looking over the participant’s shoulder, improving performance on the spot and then at an in-house seminar, we target those bits of their personal and detailed professional performance that warrant improvement.
